We Met with Minister Seamus O’Regan

The Migrant Action Centre, the Workers' Action Network of Newfoundland & Labrador, and the Social Justice Co-operative NL answered the Migrant Rights Network’s call to meet with local MPs and ask them to support Status for All last week.

We met with Seamus O’Regan, the Minister of Labour, to ask him to support providing Status and Regularization for ALL migrants living or working in Canada. He told us he supports this proposal from both a moral and economic standpoint and insisted that change takes time and things are changing slowly.

We asked if he would commit to meeting with migrant leaders (who are travelling to Ottawa) on November 14th and encourage his colleagues in cabinet, including PM Trudeau, to commit to sitting down with migrant leaders to talk about making Status for All a reality. He said he would have this conversation. We emailed today to follow up, and we will keep you all posted.

To help amplify our voice, and the voice of migrants all over the country, you can help by emailing seamus.oregan@parl.gc.ca and asking him to commit to meeting with migrant leaders from Migrant Rights Network about Status for All on November 14th and encouraging the rest of the cabinet and PM Trudeau to join this meeting.

United we are unstoppable!
